Spar is hoping to bag a larger share of summer spend with the launch of a new and improved own label range for the warmer months.

The complete summer range offers shoppers a core range of BBQ meats, fresh salads and picnic accompaniments, such as Mini Savoury Eggs.

Giving customers a strong own brand offer would increase basket spend, encourage repeat customer purchase, and give customers a point of difference from other local stores, said Spar UK brand director Susan Darbyshire.

“We are very proud of the work that has gone into making our Spar brand summer food range that we are sure our customers will enjoy and will keep coming back for,” she added.

The range will be supported by Spar’s new £5m media campaign, and retailers are being encouraged to boost sales by cross-selling summer products with other grocery and licensed goods such as soft drinks, crisps, snacks, wine, beer and ciders.
