A prolific shoplifter who stole over £2k worth of alcohol as well as committing a string of other offences has finally been locked up.
Louis Kidd, of Ermine Way, Arrington, carried out a spate of burglaries and thefts over several months across Cambridge, including five break-ins at alcohol specialists Robert Graham Ltd in Sussex Street in December, where he stole more than £2,000 worth of alcohol and £142 in cash.
The 39-year-old also targeted Co-op stores in Milton Road and Hills Road on nine separate occasions between 24 October and 7 January, stealing items including ice cream, chocolate, shampoo, meat and laundry products.
He also broke into the Asda warehouse at the Beehive Centre on 14 November, again stealing alcohol.
This was not even Kidd’s first brush with the law, as he was given a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in April last year, banning him from entering any Co-op in Cambridgeshire.
At Cambridge Crown Court earlier this week, the shoplifter was sentenced to 22 months in prison after pleading guilty to nine counts of breaching a CBO, nine counts of shoplifting and six counts of burglary.
PC Luke Upcott, who investigated, said: “Kidd is a career shoplifter who’s been given countless opportunities to change his behaviour. CBOs are designed to allow for tougher consequences when they’re breached, which is why he’s received a significant sentence.
“We continue to patrol Cambridge in plain clothes and uniform on a daily basis in order to bring people like Kidd before the courts.”
