Post Office CEO, Neil Brocklehurst, delivers a speech on the future of the business.

Earlier this week, Post Office CEO Neil Brocklehurst delivered a detailed update on the progress of the group’s five-year Transformation Plan.

He shared the Post Office’s strategic priorities for the year ahead, saying he considered it important to give the update on the plan as it was already three quarters of the way through its first year.

First announced in November 2024, the Transformation Plan was designed to deliver a New Deal for Postmasters - with “a core commitment to significantly increase postmasters’ annual income through revenue sharing and strengthening their role in shaping the business.”

Highlights of the speech included £86m in additional remuneration for postmasters, representing a 21% increase on 2025 - marking the highest year-on-year uplift in over 30 years.

Branches are also to receive the largest share of total revenue ever at 57% - a rise from last year’s 46%.

Brocklehurst also revealed that the Post Office will be delivering a £120m branch modernisation programme over the next four years, in order to create a network that “meets the needs of today’s customers.”

The new investment will go towards upgraded self-service kiosks, parcel drop-off solutions and digital marketing screens to improve convenience and efficiency.

The CEO also said the Post Office’s three strategic priorities for 2026 were revealed as remuneration, support and network change.

Banking and travel products will deliver at least 55% of income, with all other products at a minimum of 50% from April. There will be a transition to a more self-serve model for postmaster support, as well as the introduction of new technology - including app-based solutions – which are all starting this year.
