One Stop stores are now receiving chilled and frozen deliveries from Booker, in a move welcomed by franchisees.

Booker is supplying some One Stop stores, as well as its own customers, from its new distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

Leamington Spa franchisee Sunder Sandher said he would now be able to order single picks, meaning wastage would go down. He also welcomed the improvement in availability.

“There are also less N/A products and we have a list on the day of what’s coming in,” he added. “Deliveries were coming in the afternoon, but today they came just before midday.”

Aman Uppal, of One Stop Mount Nod, Coventry, added: “Booker is more used to the size of our stores and we’re more in line with their supply chain.

“We’ll get single picks on selected items, and the window of delivery times will be much shorter, so we’ll have a much better idea of when they’ll arrive.

“I definitely welcome the transition, and hopefully it’s one of the ways we’ll benefit from the Tesco-Booker merger.”

A Booker spokesperson said: “Booker is very pleased to announce the opening of a new distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead, which is serving Booker customers, as well as One-Stop. We believe the increased capacity will help bring choice, price and service benefits for all our retail customers.”
