The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust (LTCT) has opened its undergraduate bursary applications for 2025/26.
The charity provides financial aid to families working in the convenience, grocery and pharmacy trades.
Its scheme is open to undergraduate students whose parent, carer or spouse is employed in an eligible profession, such as convenience retailer, supermarket store worker or pharmacy technician.
Applications close on 15 October 2025 and students can apply to recieve up to £3,000.
The bursary can be put towards tuition fees or other expenses such as course materials, equipment or travel costs.
In the past five years, LTCT has provided over 1,600 undergraduate and 350 postgraduate bursaries to students at more than 150 different institutions. In total, £10.7m has been awarded to students across the UK, with a 33% increase in awards just last year.
With university costs rising year after year, the bursary is there to support families who might be worried about how to fund their child’s next step, said the charity.
The support aims to help ease some of the financial pressure for both students and their parents.
“This is one of the most exciting times of the year at LTCT, as we prepare for a new wave of undergraduate bursary applicants, seeking to join the ranks of universities nationwide. Each successful award means another student will be that bit closer to their goals and we’re proud to play a part in that journey,” said Professor Anna Vignoles CBE FBA, director of the LTCT.
”Opening access to further education is vital for the grocery and pharmacy trades, as we know that easing financial pressure can make all the difference. If you or someone in your family works in these sectors, we’d strongly encourage you to apply. Applications are now open, so don’t miss it!”
