Costcutter has a new chief executive in the shape of former Clinton Cards boss Darcy Willson-Rymer.

Willson-Rymer also held the post of managing director of Starbucks UK and Ireland for three years prior to being chief executive at Clinton Cards.

Bibby Line Group managing director Sir Michael Bibby said Willson-Rymer’s appointment heralded a “new era” for Costcutter and its retailers. “I have every confidence that he and the highly skilled board of directors will build upon previous success and drive the business forward,” he added.

Willson-Rymer said he was “very much looking forward” to meeting retailers and helping them to help them develop their businesses. “The continued development and expansion of our company-owned store portfolio is also a key objective and I look forward to working with the team to progress this,” he said.

After 14 years with Costcutter, Nick Ivel is also leaving the company to pursue a “change of direction”.

He will however continue to give consultancy support to the business, and identify potential acquisition targets.
