South West Spar distributor Appleby Westward has announced new appointments to its executive team.
Steve Goswell, former operations director at McColl’s Retail Group, has been appointed to the new role as store director. Prior to McColl’s, he spent more than 25 years with Tesco in a number of senior positions across the UK, most latterly as store director for the South West.
Nick Swindells joins as finance and IT director from fellow Spar wholesaler James Hall, where he spent over six years and most recently held the position of retail finance director.
“His [Swindells’] understanding of the industry, Spar and his wider commercial experience will ensure Nick is a real asset to our business and will allow him to play a key role in the planning and control of our operations,” said managing director Mike Boardman.
Phil Darch will remain as the company-owned store operations director, with accountability for Post Office and Subway business.
