Marc Deakin brings over three decades of experience to his new role at AF Blakemore & Son.

Spar wholesaler and distributor AF Blakemore & Son has announced it has promoted Marc Deakin to the role of group supply chain and logistics director, strengthening the company’s executive leadership team and reinforcing its “commitment to developing exceptional talent from within,” it said.

Deakin brings more than three decades of expertise, built across different roles in supply chain and logistics and a deep understanding of Blakemore’s operations, having joined the business in 1995 as a part-time Chilled Warehouse Operative.

The executive also played a pivotal role in the design, build and operation of the Bedford depot, and has delivered significant growth through centralisation and backhaul initiatives.

Carol Welch, CEO of AF Blakemore & Son, said: “I’m delighted by this appointment. Marc embodies the company’s values of Achieving Our Goals Together and Striving for Excellence and his appointment is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when talent, commitment and our values come together.

“His deep understanding of our business and the Spar network, combined with his proven leadership, will be instrumental in shaping the future of our supply chain and logistics operations.”

Deakin added: “I’m incredibly proud to take on this role. Starting as a part-time warehouse operative has given me a real appreciation of the opportunities our values create. I’m excited to continue strengthening our depot network and transport infrastructure, and to keep delivering outstanding service for our customers and partners.”
