Wholesaler Unitas has reported “outstanding” results from a One Week Special held at depots with supplier Carlsberg Britvic, which demonstrated “the strength of what can be achieved when members come together behind a single activity,” it said.

Originally launched in March, the ongoing initiative was designed to deliver high-impact, short-term flash sales across Unitas’ member wholesale network, it added, with the goal of driving rapid sales volume for suppliers and immediate depot footfall for independent retailers.

The latest special delivered a 312% uplift in sales compared to the previous six weeks, with beer the star performer with a 367% uplift. Soft drinks delivered an equally impressive 309% uplift. In fact, every soft drinks brand featured achieved growth of more than 200%, led by Pepsi with a 327% uplift, and Lipton Ice Tea with 307%.

At SKU level, the standout performer was Poretti’s 10x440ml pack, delivering a 2,162% uplift from a low base, supported by significant growth from Tango and Carlsberg multipacks.

Key driver

Pepsi Max was the key volume driver of the campaign, with four of the five highest volume uplift SKUs coming from the range, demonstrating that the activity delivered not only exceptional percentage growth but also meaningful incremental sales volume.

Ashleigh Cheetham, Unitas head of trading for retail, said: “These results are a brilliant example of what collaboration between Unitas and our supplier partners can achieve. Carlsberg Britvic backed this activity fully, and our members responded in kind - the growth across both beer and soft drinks shows just how much value is unlocked when the membership takes action together.

“We’ve already had a fantastic response from both suppliers and members to future one-week offers, which is incredibly encouraging. We’ll continue working closely with our supplier partners and marketing to deliver more opportunities like these which drive growth, value and success for everyone involved.”
