A convenience store owner who was fatally stabbed during a robbery in north-west London has been identified as 54-year-old Ravi Katharkamar, Metropolitan Police have announced.
The incident happened at the Marsh Food and Wine newsagent on Marsh Road in Pinner at around 6am on 24 March.
Metropolitan Police are appealing for information on the attacker, and on a black Vauxhall Astra he used to flee the scene.
A GoFundMe page, which has been set up to support the family of Ravi Katharkamar, has raised nearly £30,000 to date.
According to police, Ravi, who was opening the store, was attacked and stabbed by a man who then carried out a robbery, stealing the till.
A passer-by found Ravi collapsed inside the store suffering from stab wounds. A post-mortem examination confirmed a stab wound to the chest as the cause of death.
Detective chief inspector, Simon Stancombe, said: “This was a vicious and unwarranted attack on a completely innocent man. Ravi’s attacker got away with a few pounds worth of coins, but he leaves behind a family utterly devastated and a close-knit community asking who could do such a thing.
“Help me catch the man that did this. The attacker fled with a shop till – have you found this discarded or seen someone in possession of a shop till who wouldn’t normally have one? Do you know someone trying to use a lot of loose change since yesterday morning?
“I am also keen to hear from anyone who has information about a black Vauxhall Astra that the attacker used to flee the scene.”
