Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted armed robbery at a convenience store in Widnes, Cheshire.

The incident happened at the Hough Green Convenience Store on Ditchfield Road in the town of Widnes at around 7.50pm on 28 January.

A man, described as being of a thin build and around 5ft 8 tall, entered the store demanding the staff member hand over cash inside the till, but left empty handed.

According to police, he was wearing a black hooded top, black tracksuit trousers, black trainers and a white facemask with yellow and green gardening gloves.

Widnes CID detective constable, Joseph McNally, said: “Our enquiries into the attempted robbery are ongoing and I urge anyone who was in the area who witnessed what happened or has any relevant information to help with our investigation to contact the team here at Widnes.”
