Kirsty and Stefan Jakeman stole from One Stop and Co-op stores in Cambridge, and have now been jailed.

A Cambridge couple who carried out a series of shop thefts across the townhave been jailed.

Stefan and Kirsty Jakeman, of Ditton Fields, Cambridge, targeted multiple shops including Co-op and One Stop, stealing household items and meat.

35-year-old Stefan also jumped over the counter of Co-ops in Milton Road and Histon Road between 17 and 26 January this year, taking more than £2,200 of tobacco and cigarettes.

At Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday last week (29 January), hew was sentenced to a year and nine weeks in prison after pleading guilty to seven counts of theft, four counts of burglary, four breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), theft from a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine and fraud by false representation.

He must also contribute £1,990 in compensation to Co-op and others.

Kirsty Jakeman, 37, was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to six counts of shop theft, three breaches of a CBO, theft from a motor vehicle and fraud by false representation.

Kirsty’s CBO has also been amended and she must not enter any Co-op or Aldi in Cambridgeshire from now on. She must also pay £307 in compensation to Aldi, Co-op and One Stop.

PC Alex Thake, from the Spree Offender Team, said: “Both Stefan and Kirsty have caused significant disruption to businesses across Cambridge, repeatedly targeting shops and showing complete disregard for previous court orders. Their persistent offending not only impacts retailers financially but also places a strain on staff and the wider community.

“We will continue to work closely with local businesses to identify and bring to justice those who engage in this type of offending.”
