A shopkeeper who launched a poster campaign against selling fireworks to anyone under 21 says his Chesterfield community enjoyed a relatively trouble-free Guy Fawkes season.

Terry Caton, who runs two Londis stores in the town, first used the posters in 2004 after a spate of firework-related anti-social behaviour.
This year other businesses, including the local Somerfield, adopted the initiative. The Chesterfield Booker depot helped distribute the posters and Terry reduced the time he sold fireworks to between October 27 and November 7.

Terry told C-Store: “It has been a lot quieter than other years. All my staff were fully aware of the policy and I would like to think we contributed to the reduction of problems. I hope to get even more retailers involved next year.”
