It’s here again! Time to appraise your business and get your store looking at its best for the judges as entries are open for the 2017 Convenience Retail Awards. The best of the industry

Entries are officially open for the 2017 Convenience Retail Awards, and once again we’re looking for the best of the best in convenience.

If you are proud of your store and standards, have a great range and a solid period of successful trading behind you, you could be in with a shot at one of our store categories or special awards, which will help lift your business onto an even higher level.

But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what the 2016 Convenience Retailer of the Year Scott Graham of McLeish in Inverurie had to say about his progress since winning the award in March.

“This was the first time we’d entered the Convenience Retail Awards (CRAs) and boy are we glad we did! The entry process was straightforward and, thinking back, I would have been glad I’d done it even if we hadn’t won as it forced me to take a few hours out of my day to sit down and focus on the business and analyse the impact of all the elements we had recently implemented.

“The evening itself was fantastic,” he continues. “Being in the north of Scotland we can at times feel a little cut off, so to be able to have so many successful retailers and key suppliers all together in one room was a real boon. Winning aside, it was a great opportunity to network, raise awareness of the McLeish brand and build relationships, particularly with suppliers.”

And putting the store on the map has had long-term benefits, explains Scott. “Prior to winning, visits from suppliers’ sales reps were a little patchy, but since the awards night we have forged really meaningful relationships with three key suppliers and these are having a positive impact on the business.

“The exposure has been fabulous. We received quite a bit of coverage in Convenience Store and also the local press which the community was delighted with. It’s also generated a real ‘feel good’ factor among our staff.”

To get into the first stage of judging, visit our awards website at to provide us with information about your store and upload pictures showing it in its best light. After that, we’ll be in touch if you make it through to the second round which involves a site visit by one of the judges. But you only have a month to enter, so get cracking: roll the dice, you just might win! In association with:Sponsored by:Produced by:
