Michael Fletcher has today (12 August) taken the decision to leave his role as managing director of Spar UK.
Fletcher will step away from his day-to-day responsibilities at the end of August before leaving the business at the beginning of November.
Michael joined Spar UK in November 2024 and led the central office team through a significant phase of change. The Spar Food Distributors (SFD) Board said it would like to “thank Michael for his leadership and contribution during his time with the business and wish him every success for the future.”
As a result, Spar UK said it is pleased to announce the appointment of Jerome Saint-Marc as its new managing director, with effect from 17 August.
Saint-Marc is described as “a highly experienced senior leader who brings a strong focus on delivering strategic value for all stakeholder groups.” He brings 30 years’ experience across supply chain and retail, having held roles at Tesco, Morrisons, Wilko and, most recently, Co-op.
Martin Agnew has also taken on the role of chair of the SFD Board. He has served on the Board for over 25 years and brings extensive retail and wholesale experience to the role.
He succeeds Nick Bunker, who recently stepped down as chair. The SFD Board said it would also like to thank Nick for his “significant contribution” during his tenure.
