Dole is extending its range of canned fruit to include Fruit Cocktail, Pears, Peaches and Prunes. Dole hopes these introductions will increase its share of the canned fruit market, which is currently worth £90m (IRI Symphony week ending February 19, 2011). Sales director Harvey Aaron comments that a combination of the economic downturn and consumers’ desire to include more fruit in their diets has led to a growth in popularity of canned fruit.
