Good news piece number one: Angie Patel, who runs a sub post office in Perivale, Middlesex, has ‘won’ her Lanwall/photocopy/finance case, in that it was thrown out. It could have been better news if it had concerned the finance company also known as Bank of Scotland, but in this case it was Key Finance, a much smaller player. Still, a result!
Good news piece number two: Lee Castleton, the first (now ex) retailer to contact me over the Horizon system glitches at sub post offices, has emailed to say that his local DS, from Humberside Police (Financial Crimes Unit), has confirmed he will be investigating the Post Office. Lee’s got a crime number to prove it.
This is in addition to the civil action being pursued through the courts by Shoosmiths, acting on behalf of more than 100 victims of Horizon’s accountancy system. ■
