Aman Uppal Out of the Shop

Retailer Aman Uppal has outlined his future plans following the sale of his family business and is to share his ‘Out of the Shop and On the Road’ experiences with Convenience Store readers via a regular column.

Having signed with One Stop in November 2015, the family decided it was time to sell the store in Mount Nod, Coventry and completed the sale earlier this month.

Aman cited economic factors and legislation changes as part of the reasons for selling the store. “We can navigate the changes coming but we felt it was the right time to sell the business and move onto to the next part of our lives after more than 30 years of running a store.”

After taking some time to relax, Aman and his family will be travelling to India to mark the anniversary of the passing of their father, Bal.

Although no longer running the store, Aman has plans to stay in the retail world, looking at a career in FMCG, potentially abroad. In the meantime, he has been taking his experience as a store owner to the industry with his ‘Out of the Shop and On the Road’ tour that will see him visit FMCG suppliers as well as look at trends from other markets.

Aman has already embarked on this journey and said he felt “very appreciated” by the industry as he “hopes to give something back” to businesses supporting him.
