A family made a dramatic escape from an arson attack on the shop below their flat by tying saris together and climbing from a bedroom window.
Mr Vicki, the manager of Tovil Newsagents and Post Office in Maidstone, Kent, and his wife and two children managed to dodge the flames after being woken in the early hours of November 7 by a crashing sound. Store owner Kariagasundaram Prince said: "It was a lucky escape. The shop is ruined and the post office is smoke damaged. We think it was some kind of prank or dare."
A 17-year-old was arrested in connection with attack but has since been released on bail. Kent Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
