It was lights, camera, action at Best-One in West Park, Leeds, when the store was used to film new BBC drama The Syndicate.

Timothy Spall and Joanna Page feature in the show, in which staff of a c-store win £18m in a lottery. It airs in April.

The store, run by brothers Palvinder and Rapinder Pama, was seen as the ideal size for filming. Palvinder said: “I was concerned that it would cause disruption, but it was too big an opportunity to pass up.

“They wanted us to close for a week, but that would have been too much, so we agreed they could film five Sundays in a row.”

Palvinder added that although it caused some confusion among customers, it also attracted lots of interest. “Monday was really busy as customers all wanted to know what had been going on!”
