Warner's Budgens in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, has been chosen as the Convenience Retailer of the Year at the Convenience Retailing Awards, held in London last week.

Store owner Guy Warner was delighted to have been awarded such a prestigious title. “I know everyone says it, but I truly am shocked to have won, especially given the strength of the competition,” he said. “I’m absolutely thrilled as a huge amount of work has gone into the store over the last few months.

“What we’ve done is transform what was originally a good store into a great customer proposition. We’ve got the best value, range and service around, and as a result our sales and profits are growing year on year.”

Co-operative Clipstone in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire won the Best Multiple Store award and former overall winner Alec Gardner won Best Independent Store for his Suffolk shop.
