Bestway Wholesale has revealed the winners of its newly-combined Retail Development Awards (RDAs) and Bestway Performance Awards (BPAs).

Held at London’s Marriot Hotel on Park Lane on 2 November 2023, the new joint awards celebrates both its retailers and colleagues all together at the same time. The awards evening saw Bestway colleagues, independent retailers, members of the Bestway Retail symbol group members (Best-one, Bargain Booze and Costcutter), and Bestway Wholesale’s Xtra Local Retail Club as well as key supply partners, come together to showcase and recognise exemplars of best practice and growth, seen over the past year.

As part of Bestway’s Retail Development Programme, the Retail Development Awards celebrate outstanding achievements and business successes from Bestway Retail and independent retailers.

The Bestway Performance Awards are open to all employees within Bestway - from drivers, pickers, telesales teams, store and depot colleagues to office-based colleagues and departments. All winners were presented with a certificate and trophy on stage and employee winners won a cash bonus in recognition of their commitment and hard work.

The awards were presented by Dawood Pervez, Managing Director, Bestway Wholesale, Kenton Burchell, Group Trading Director, Bestway Wholesale, Jamie Davison, Retail Director, Bestway Retail and Naser Khan.

Bestway Wholesale managing director, Dawood Pervez, explained why the business has taken the decision to join together the awards. “We have brought our Retail Development Awards and Bestway Performance Awards together as the two are intrinsically linked,” he said. “Our retailers’ success are our teams’ success – together we grow, and together we innovate, and it feels appropriate to recognise the power of teamwork as we invest in the future and in the growth of our respective businesses.

“Here at Bestway, we have a profound commitment to growing together and supporting the local communities we serve, whether that be you our retailers and your own customers – or our colleagues, who make it all possible.”

Aidan Fortune, editor of Convenience Store which was media partner for the awards, praised the winners. “It’s heartening to see such passion for the sector from both retailers and Bestway colleagues. The winners of tonight’s awards are shining examples of all that is good within the convenience channel. Congratulations to all of the worthy winners and I look forward to visiting some of the winning stores in the near future.”
