MPs have called on the government to support a campaign by Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) to have all ATMs clearly labelled in green if they are free to use and red if they charge.
MP for Dundee West Jim McGovern has put forward an Early Day Motion that also calls for more free ATMs to be introduced. He is concerned that 40% of ATMs are fee-charging.
He highlighted HBOS' pledge to install 100 new fee-free machines in areas of the North of England and Scotland which are currently without easy access to non-charging systems.
