Nescafé leads the hot beverage pack, with nine in 10 convenience retailers naming it a top-five seller, while Tetley is named as the top tea seller.

Ian Mitchell says Tetley and Nescafé are the two biggest brands in his store, and says he sells about 15 or 16 units of each a week, but for Paul Cheema, Yorkshire Tea is the number one. “Yorkshire Tea is top regardless of promotion. People just love the taste of it,” Paul says. “Kenco is probably the main one for coffee right now, but people are beginning to move to filter coffee, too.”

Nestlé UK’s Graham Walker says sales of Nescafé rose by 13% in c-stores last year (IRI convenience store data 52 week ending December 29, 2012). The brand also took advantage of the rising demand for filter coffee with the launch of Nescafé Azera.
