Brookfield Brewing Company has brewed a new artisan premium ale called Lionheart (rrp £2.10).

The new drink has been brewed to a 12th century style recipe featuring wild harvested sweet gale and the time-honoured ‘open squares’ system to create a unique flavour.

The 4.5% ABV amber ale is brewed at Robinsons Brewery in Cheshire and is available in 500ml flint bottles, stocked by many of the Landmark and Today’s wholesalers.

A fruity malty ale, deep and rich in flavour with a tawny golden colour, is brewed using top fermenting yeast and British assured malts and has the added profile of sweet gale – ‘the saffron of the brewing industry’ which was used in place of hops in the 12th and 13th centuries.
