Nutraceuticals firm Purity Health has launched a sweet which claims to offer consumers a “healthy way to energise”.

Caffeine-based Firestar sachets retail at £1 and contain 10 calories.

This claims to provide a low sugar, sustained energy boost that improves mental and physical performance.

Purity Health company director Dr Andrew Guise said: “Firestar releases energy slowly over time so there is no huge rush and no crash, just sustained energy to make you feel clear-headed and energised.”

He added that Firestar contained twice the energy-giving properties found in a single can of Red Bull but only 2g of sugar.

The standard Firestar product comes in cola and ice mint flavours. It contains 120mg of caffeine and releases energy over two hours. Firestar Max contains 180mg of caffeine and releases energy over four hours. It is available in cherry and ice mint flavours. The products can be ordered direct from firestarenergy.com and retailers can currently claim 10% cashback by introducing another retailer to the product.
