Magazine sales should get a boost come September when the first-ever Magazine Week will take place. The event, organised by the publishers' body PPA, will run from September 17-23 and will combine retail promotion and branding with a packed PR schedule, all designed "to excite and educate the general public about the vast range of titles available".
The PPA will provide a central range of resources and will drive the PR activity. The aim is for publishers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers (both multiples and independents) to use these resources as a template for their own activities for the week.
Branded point-of-sale material will be distributed to retail outlets nationwide for retailers to use on their magazine displays. Three straplines will be used: 'Buy a magazine... be informed', ' entertained', and ' unwind'.
