A persistent shoplifter from Stourport in Worcestershire has finally been put behind bars after he continued to steal from stores in the town - despite being on a suspended sentence.
Damian Badger, 39, was sent to prison for six months when he appeared before Kidderminster Magistrates Court last week. A resident of the town, he will also be banned from several stores when he’s eventually released.

The offender was found guilty of four counts of theft from shops, all committed just a few days after he received a suspended sentence for 24 similar offences.
He was given two weeks concurrently for those offences - but his suspended sentence order from the previous week was also activated, giving him another 26 weeks which are to run concurrently.
The offender was also given a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at court on Thursday, which means he is also banned from entering the following selected Co-op, Tesco Express and B&M stores upon his release, as well as one Post Office.
He is also banned from entering any retail store with a named individual as part of the order, which runs until 30 July 2028.
Police Sergeant Matt Ling (left), of the Stourport Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Badger failed to learn from the opportunity afforded to him by his suspended sentence and quickly returned to offending. As a result, he was arrested and brought before the courts, which rightly imposed a six-month custodial sentence and a two-year CBO.”
“Shoplifting is far from a victimless crime. It has a significant impact on retailers and their staff, causes distress within our communities, and contributes to increased costs that can ultimately be passed on to consumers.
“We remain committed to supporting businesses and tackling those who repeatedly target local shops. Anyone who sees Badger entering any of the stores listed in the order once he is released is asked to contact police on 101 or report it online.”
