SPAR Community Cashback Grant 2026 launch

A donations fund for locals good causes totalling £20k has just been announced by Spar NI.

Spar NI’s annual Community Cashback grant is to return and is now open for applications, with the local retailer pledging £20k towards community based charities and outreach organisations.

The retailer has distributed £120,000 in grants to 55 organisations since 2020, reaching across every county in the UK. This year, funds will be split between seven organisations, with one £10k grant, one of £5k and five £1k grants.

Last year, Victim Support NI received the £10k grant, which went towards enabling the charity to continue providing comprehensive and exceptional support to all victims of crime in Northern Ireland.

Janice Bunting, the charity’s chief executive, said she would encourage other charities and community based organisations to apply for the grant; “As every non-profit organisation will know, funding is so crucial to keep services running, especially if, like us, they’re volunteer led.

“Having a no-strings, completely community-based grant that’s easily applied for is incredible and so appreciated when raising funds is getting more and more difficult each year.”

Other recipients from 2025’s scheme were Rural Support, Live Music Now, Craigavon Lakers Wheelchair Basketball Club, The Kindness Postbox, The White Butterfly Foundation and Knitted Knockers.

Laura Thompson, from Spar NI, added; “We have over 300 Spar stores in Northern Ireland, and each and every one serves as a hub for their local community. Our in-store teams commit to support for many organisations, charities and groups, all of which are rooted firmly in their communities.

“Spar NI launched the first ever Community Cashback grant in response to the pandemic lockdown in 2020, and we’re delighted to continue with the initiative every year.”

Applications for the 2026 Community Cashback grant are now open, closing on 13 May. Applications can be made here.
