Organisers of the Palmer & Harvey McLane Pro-retail show are hoping for great things this year, having increased the show by 10% on last year and boosting the number of stands to 200. Last year 7,000 visitors packed the event and more are expected at Pro-retail 2006, which runs from April 25-27 at the International Centre, Telford.
Inside you'll find launches, merchandising advice and insight into trade innovations. The show covers all categories including ambient, alcohol, chilled and frozen, and industry specialists will be on hand in the fields of symbol membership plus the latest epos technology.
Once again a visitor's package including free nationwide coach transport or free car parking, admission, lunch and refreshments will be available. P&H says that while pre-registration for the coaches has closed it will still endeavour to accommodate retailers where possible.
Last year the show ran 55 coaches to and from Pro-retail. For retailers wishing to spend two days at the event there's a two-day, one-night mini break offer; and those staying on the Tuesday night only can take advantage of a package that includes tickets to the Tuesday gala awards dinner. However, the packages are popular and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Details are in the registration pack for the show.
The Transfer Trading scheme will be back for this year and has doubled in size with 160 deals on offer. The scheme gives P&H independent customers the chance to order the products that they see at the show right away and includes buy-one-get-one-free offers, free stock and price deals. The offers are available only at the show.
For those feeling lucky, look out for the Pro-retail prize draw which offers the first prize of a Ford Focus LX 1.4 petrol five-door, worth £12,707. The winner will be picked on the Thursday.
Runner-up prizes of three luxury holidays worth £3,000 each will also be given away on each day of the show, and three Polaroid A500 5 Mega Pixel digital camerals worth £100 each up are for grabs. Entry is automatic for independent retailers attending the show. The prize draw will be made from the P&H stand and the winner will be required to visit the stand to receive their prize.
Last year the successful Pro-Shopper event was one of the show's highlights and this year P&H is keeping its big splash close to its chest - it says that something major is on the cards for this year but is keeping it a closely guarded secret for now.
What is for sure is that visitors will get a sneak preview of the P&H Christmas brochure as well as some of the new products for the 2006 Christmas season.
Retailers will also have the opportunity to speak to sales representatives to gain a deeper understanding of how to make the most of the peak sales season and maximise profits.
This year Pro-retail has undergone a revamp with new brand identity representing the show's total retail solution. According to P&H, the brand identity and slogan 'geared for your success' give the show a much greater unified message.

On the winning side

Sports fans will be spoilt for choice at this year's show with two sporting heroes in attendance. Footballer Ian Wright will be on the United Biscuits UK (UBUK) stand to support the company's new World Cup on-pack promotion. The 'Are you Wright up for it?' instant-win promotion will run across three UBUK brands - McCoy's, McVitie's Jaffa Cakes and KP Nuts - and will offer one of five trips to Germany to meet the ex-footballer and commentator.
Also at the show will be Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy, official sponsor of the Soreen brand this year.
Other highlights include the opportunity to win a four-day city break to New York with Hersheys. The winner will enjoy a helicopter trip around Manhattan and tickets to a Broadway show.
