Convenience Retailing Show event director Matthew Butler put his best foot forward for charity by competing in the recent London Marathon.
Sponsorship of Butler's vest was auctioned at last month's Candy Ball, with proceeds going to the Confectioners' Benevolent Fund (CBF). Cadbury put in the winning bid of £1,100, and Butler carried the company's logo around the course in a new personal best time of three hours, 40 minutes, having been given a place in the race by Flora brand owner Unilever.
Nisa retailer Kishor Patel's famous Retail Smart car was also auctioned at the Candy Ball. Raj Tugnait of Country Choice put in the winning bid of an impressive £6,000.
Overall, Candy Ball 2008 raised more than £210,000.
