The supply chaos could create tens of thousands of jobs being lost in retail, catering and the drinks trade. Retail is heavily over footaged and this could just be a natural shakeout, causing big community and local economic problems.


The interruption in the supply of food and drink could just be enough to reduce working cash and capital in shops, forecourts and restaurants, and cause businesses to become bankrupt.
