I as a retailer of last 28 yrs find the trade is getting very competitive with margin squeeze . on top the cost of employing staff keeps going up . increase in holiday , pension contribution , unclaimable sick pay ! I have no grouse with paying a living wage but where does the retailer get money from ? increased prices ? staff efficiency ? ..... my 40% of business is promotion stock which is very low on margins !! even some of the price parked stock have trimmed their margins !! so the retailers are on double squeeze !!
