Whilst agreeing with their reasoning on this subject unfortunately this is the way society is heading, as no Government likes to cede control back to the individual once it has wrested control of a subject and made it a state issue.

Others will disagree with me but I firmly believe in letting the market decide on what is necessary, whilst state intervention should be as prescribed by Stuart Mill to prevent one doing harm to others. The responsibility for personal choices should in my view always rest with the individual unless age (ideally guided by family not the state) or restricted mental capacity prevents them from doing so.
