Westons has launched the UK’s ‘first ever’ cider category report.

The report, launched yesterday, is available as a hard copy well as being available in a digital format online at: http://www.westons-cider.co.uk/CiderReport2016

Retailers can use the report to gain insight into category performance, types of cider drinkers, the occasions for cider drinking, regional patterns of consumption, challenges and opportunities.

There is plenty of information on the best-sellers within the off-trade as well as recommendations on the best merchandising solution for the average c-store retailer.

C-store retailers are advised to site their range between wine and beer with bottled traditional and craft ciders on the top shelf, premium ciders around eye-level, mainstream ciders below and value cider on the bottom shelf.

Some of the headlines stats in the report include:

  • Cider is worth £2.8billion a year in the UK
  • 56% of all apple4s grown in the UK are used to make cider
  • The UK represents 48% of the global cider market
