The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has extended its Assured Advice scheme to retailers in Wales.

The scheme, which offers retailers the assurance that their in-store practices cannot be challenged by local enforcement officers, had previously only been available in England.

It has been developed as part of a primary authority scheme with Surrey County Council for England, but guides will now also be assured in Wales by Bridgend County Council.

The launch in Wales includes a Welsh language version of the tobacco display ban guide.

ACS Assured Advice covers a variety of topics, including health and safety, preventing underage sales, fire safety and more.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our industry leading Assured Advice scheme for retailers in both England and Wales. Our guides allow independent stores and small multiples to have the same benefits and protections previously only available to the biggest national chains.”
