Symbol groups Select & Save and Bargain Booze have teamed up to create a new joint fascia store concept.
Bargain Booze at Select & Save will be trialled from the beginning of October at a store in Manton, near Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
The companies say the link between the two will give both groups access to outlets that might not otherwise be considered for membership.
Select & Save currently has 120 stores, eight of which are company owned. The stores range from 1,500-3,000sq ft. The 600 franchised Bargain Booze outlets are smaller at 500-1,000sq ft in size.
Select & Save joint managing director Steve Jones, who owns the store where the trial will take place, said: "These days a convenience store needs to be able to offer something different. We think this tie-up will add that something extra to make our stores a one-stop shop."
Matthew Hughes, joint managing director at Bargain Booze, added: "This will be a genuine retail concept in its own right. It is very early days but the testing phase won't be a huge length of time and we'll be able to offer the concept out well before Christmas. It's good news for both retailers and good news for consumers also."
