Spar retailer Jacqui Bailey is helping to sustain her flood-hit local community with a generous donation to the local food bank.

Jacqui, who owns the Spar London Road Bakery in Boston, Lincolnshire, has donated £500-worth of goods after the River Haven burst its banks and flooded 300 homes last week.

More than 200 residents are still unable to return home following the flooding, which was sparked by the most serious tidal surge to hit the east coast for more than 60 years.

“Volunteers have been preparing food parcels for the families who are worst hit, but it only goes so far,” Jacqui said. “I am really pleased to be able to help. With the help of the Blakemore Foundation I am donating enough Christmas food products - mince pies, biscuits, chocolates and treats – to put together 50 festive food parcels for the Food Bank, which I hope will bring some seasonal goodwill to the families affected.”
