A friendly welcome is what impresses customers most when visiting a convenience store. According to a survey from market analysts HIM, 44% of respondents cited staff friendliness as the most important factor, followed by product availability, speed of service and short queues, all at 27%.
Value for money ranked next at 26%, with shop cleanliness at 22%. Range didn't seem to be particularly important, with range of services scoring 17%, more than range of products at 11%. However, shoppers like fresh products and 13% wanted a choice of these. Finally, promotions got only 12% of the vote.
