Scotmid Co-operative has appointed Harry Cairney as its new president and Jim Watson as vice president.

Cairney takes over following previous president Hollis Smallman’s passing in February of this year. The two had been acting president and vice president during Smallman’s illness.

Cairney has been associated with Scotmid for 41 years and has been a board member since 1998. He also served as vice president from 2009 to 2013.

“It is a huge honour to become president and to follow in the footsteps of Hollis,” said Cairney. “He has left a great legacy and I am determined to ensure that this society continues to go from strength to strength.”
