Top-up groceries will soon be delivered to local shoppers via revolutionary self-driving delivery robots, once a pilot scheme kicks off in London.

Shoppers in the borough of Greenwich will be the first to see the six-wheeled intelligent robots on their pavements when a partnership scheme between the local authority and the robot’s manufacturer Starship Technologies goes live this month.

The programme aims to demonstrate “how easily the friendly curb-side robots can integrate into human life,” Starship CEO Ahti Heinla said.

The robots have been specifically designed for local delivery of goods and groceries for under £1 per shipment.
