Independent retailer Rocky Sandu and his sister Kiren have raised £1,200 for Cancer Relief as part of a community fun day earlier this month.

The pair, who run the Go Local Extra in North Wingfield, Chesterfield, put on a fun-filled day with activities including tombola, ring toss, a bucking bronco, puppet show and bouncy castles.

Raffle prizes comprised of a Cadbury’s World family ticket, a holiday, a signed England cricket shirt, a helicopter ride, shopping vouchers, hampers and beauty treatments.

The day also gave the opportunity for the local community to mix with local businesses, suppliers, churches, schools and other community groups.

Cancer Relief chief executive officer, Steve Coupe, who attended the event, said: “We are grateful for the generosity of North Wingfield people. It’s great to see the business community giving something back and everyone pulling together for a good cause.

“We are customers of Go Local Extra and it is nice to see so many familiar faces; the event has been a huge success and looks set to grow bigger and better each year.”

Chris Salt from Parfetts Sheffield, said: “Rocky and Kiren worked incredibly hard to make the day such a success. It was also great to see how well the local community got involved and how much support came from suppliers including Wiltshire Farm Foods, Country Choice, Warburtons, Cadbury’s and The Sun.”
