Cambridgeshire retailer Jonathan James has put two of his Spar service stations up for sale.

Jonathan is looking to sell his Slade End and West Park Street Service Stations in Chatteris in order to “work on new ventures”. He told C-Store the two stores had received a "great deal of interest".

His company James Graven & Sons currently owns four service stations and two Budgens supermarkets in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

He said: “We have built a great business which has developed around me and therefore needs my constant attention. My various commitments both in the trade and in my community means I am pulled away from the business most days.

“I am passionate about helping independent retailers and I want to devote more time to the industry. Over the past few years I have been offered a number of exciting, industry based opportunities and have had to turn them down. By selling sites it will free up my time to work on new ventures.”

Jonathan is planning to develop a business park alongside his Littleport service station, which would entail a 16-unit low carbon facility housing high-tech industries. The local council has offered excellent support, he added.

He is a director of the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) and a member of a number of its committees.
