The government has announced the details of its Youth Green Paper, entitled Youth Matters, which includes proposals for the piloting of ‘opportunity cards’.

The cards give young people discounts on positive activities which would be rescinded for anti-social behaviour or crime.

Other proposals include young people in each local authority being given control of a share of an ‘opportunity fund’ of up to £30,000 to be spent on local projects .

Children, young people and families minister Beverley Hughes said: “This package focuses squarely on the responsibilities teenagers have as members of a community.”
