London shopkeeper Ganesamoorthy Sinnaghamby became the 100th retailer to receive a good practice certificate from Southwark council for refusing to sell cigarettes to under-16s.

Ganesamoorthy was given the award by councillor Richard Thomas (pictured far left) after twice refusing to sell tobacco in test purchasing at his Union Newsagent store.

Trading standards officer Dave Read said: “Over the seven years we’ve run this award there’s been a decline in the number of retailers who sell cigarettes to under 16s.”
