More than half of over-55s are worried about losing local stores and post offices, new research has revealed.
Vanishing Britain, commissioned by volunteers group CSV for Make a Difference Day, tracked concerns for people and places. Some 53% of 55- to 64-year-olds and 54% of over-65s were concerned about losing local amenities due to modern developments. Across all age groups the figure reached 41%.
The report, which also found that 46% of the population were worried about losing countryside and green spaces, urged people to take action by volunteering in the lead up to this year's Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 28.
