The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has developed a toolkit to help retailers reduce the risk of work-related violence. It provides practical advice on how to conduct a risk assessment and take action to prevent or control violent incidents.

It warns that young and temporary workers may be at greater risk from violence because they have had less training on how to deal with angry customers, robbery and sexual harassment.

The toolkit and more detailed information can be found on the HSE website at: www.hse.gov.uk/violence/toolkit/index.htm.
