E-payment terminal operator Payzone is to introduce a new payment structure for bill payments and utilities which it says will benefit retailers who process a large number of low-value transactions.

The new arrangement, introduced on the day retailers suffered a cut in their commission on Vodafone top-ups via Payzone and other payment terminal operators, involves a simplified flat fee and a minimum payment of 5p on every transaction.

The new rate replaces what Payzone says was the “unpopular and confusing” percentage of value capped process.

Payzone UK managing director Paul Charmatz said: “The new payment structure directly resulted from feedback sessions we have conducted with retailers. A simplified flat fee is fairer and easier to understand, and this new fee structure alongside our commitment to direct debit retailers only twice a week will be a significant enhancement for retailers.”
