Palmer & Harvey has re-launched its customer online ordering system to allow retailers to order on the go.

Launched as the‘ Easy Order’ iPhone app last year, the system is now available across all mobile platforms including android tablets.

According to Rory Brick, head of marketing at P&H, sales via online have increased 40% year-on-year. “Online definitely represents an opportunity for us,” he said. “Retailers are now more likely to order online and having an optimised site will make the ordering experience much easier, especially now that it is totally mobile-enabled.”

Despite the updated online offering, P&H has no plans to replace traditional communication methods and mediums such as telesales, brochures or sales reps.

The updates were unveiled at this year’s Pro Retail exhibition at Telford. At the show, P&H also gave details on ambitious plans for its retail club service. It hopes to have recruited 1,000 members over the next three years. The retail club, which focuses on news-led businesses, currently has 70 retailers signed up to it.

Brick said the offering would suit retailers concerned about losing sales due to the impending tobacco display ban and looking to improve in other areas. “With tobacco gantries going dark, a large part of CTN retailers’ businesses will be impacted and our offering will help them manage their news and magazine fixture and get the best deal possible from suppliers,” he said.
