Retailers can find out what kind of an impact that the Olympic games will have on their stores and supply chains with the use of a new free tool from Total Logistics.

The supply chain consultancy’s online tool takes under 10 minutes to complete and provides businesses with recommendations on a number of key areas, including supply chain performance, demand planning, transport scheduling as well as communications with suppliers and customers.

It uses a series of multiple choice questions that produce a report card on each organisation’s readiness for the events.

Stuart Hearn, business development manager at Total Logistics, said: “Research has shown that 68% of businesses delivering goods into London, and the other cities staging Olympic events this summer, are not fully prepared for the likely disruption to normal supply chain routes these events will create.

“We wanted to help organisations to rapidly assess their operational readiness, which is why we developed our online tool. This will help logistics and transport managers to consider some of the key challenges they face in 2012.”
